  • Essay / Growing Up Without a Father Essay - 1156

Negative rates are simply too high to ignore. Daily problems arise mainly because of the lack of fathers, and many people are killed, raped and drop out of school. To many people this may seem like a minor problem, but in the child's eyes it is a real game changer. This ultimately contributes to whether the child is doing anything with their life or is more likely to fall into the negative statistical groups listed previously. Depression is more than likely. I experience this myself sometimes, so I can honestly say it's true for me and I believe it 100%. Society should care about children growing up without a father because who knows if that child next door or in your community could become a problem for the area you lay your head in and make it unsafe for you and your family. You can see how this can become a bigger problem for society as a whole if we don't pay attention to others. Just because it doesn't happen in your home or family doesn't mean it won't ever affect you. That being said, we as a society are doing a better job of addressing this problem. Programs like Boys and Girls Club, My Brother's Keeper, and Big Brothers Big Sisters seek to fill this gap in our society, particularly among boys without fathers (Joiner, 2016). In my experience, these programs/people build relationships and care about what is happening in the child's life.
