Essay / Benefits of Adult Stem Cell Therapy - 1504
Advancements in biomedical research have significantly improved stem cell therapies. There is a lot of unnecessary debate about the pros and cons of adult stem cell therapy versus embryonic stem cell therapy, which could be avoided if people were more knowledgeable about both therapies. Adult stem cell therapy is far superior to embryonic stem cell therapy because it avoids ethical issues, patients can use their own cells, and adult stem cells can be transformed into a pluripotent stage. Initially, adult stem cell therapy is more desirable than embryonic stem cell therapy. cell therapy because it avoids all the ethical concerns that embryonic stem cell therapy is subject to. In other words, the moral and ethical obligations that hinder embryonic stem therapy are completely avoided with adult stem cells. For example, many people believe that the embryo is a life worth protecting and have many differing opinions about what constitutes the beginning of life. Michael West reports that true human life does not begin until the embryo is multicellular after 14 days of development (West). His view, which emphasizes that the embryo is not worthy of protection, may cause extreme controversy in the scientific community, mainly because many people consider the belief that an embryo is human only after having survived a certain amount of time is morally corrupt. On the other hand, William Chesire states that from the moment of conception, embryos constitute distinct lives and it is unethical to destroy them (Chesire). Embryos are just as human as any person and therefore should not be destroyed, even to save others. Adult stem cells completely avoid the question and debate of what constitutes the beginning of life since they never use a cell...... middle of paper ......Hill, Robert. “Advantages and disadvantages of adult stem cells compared to embryonic stem/germ cells.” Welcome to the world of stem cells.
