In the novel Native Son, the main character Bigger makes many impulsive decisions, and I would like to further analyze his behaviors throughout the story. Racism is known to negatively affect people of color in the United States, and a number of research studies have concluded that racism continues to cause negative social, physical, economic, and psychological effects that are in some cases transmitted from generation to generation. . Racism continues to have an underlying negative effect on hiring practices, home loans, education, and the quality of health care for people of color. This article will focus on the character of Bigger, analyze the negative effects of racism and its contribution to Bigger's thoughts, attitude, opinions, behavior and social interactions. Being African American, Bigger has always lived his life by the rules and rules of what not to do with white people, and developed a hatred towards them because of this. Bigger and his family live in low-income housing in Chicago, a rundown apartment to be honest, and because it's a fact, Bigger feels powerless to change his family's living conditions, which makes him angry . He and his mother, both unemployed adults in the house, need to earn some type of income, so Bigger's mother urges him to accept the position he was offered by Mr. Dalton. His mother often bullies him and is not the most supportive mother. Bigger makes a hobby of going out and committing petty crimes with his friends only against other black people due to his fear of white people. Gus, one of Bigger's friends, soon becomes one of his victims of inner anger used to cover up his true fear, when he inspires his friends to finally embark on robbing Mr. Blum, middle of paper . ......ly leaves the room. Now Bigger begins to feel fear. The same fear he felt when it was time to rob Blums. Being a black man in a situation like this risks losing his life quickly. Bigger now thinks like a murderer, even though he didn't intend to kill Mary, he feels he has no other choice. He uses a trunk to put Mary's body in and heads to the basement. Getting a glimpse of the oven changed his original plan. He decided to put Mary's body in the oven and burn it. The body didn't entirely fit him, so he had to cut off its head and burn it as well. After finishing with her, he left for home. In the morning, Bigger returned to the Dalton house and everyone was still asleep. He checked the stove to see his cruel work. Peggy begins to worry about Mary's whereabouts when the time approaches when Mary is expected to leave for the train station..
