Methods used to create user awareness and access to electronic resourcesMaking users aware of the availability of electronic resources and how to use them are other challenges faced by librarians. Electronic resources are intended to be consulted to retrieve information for various purposes and needs. Users must be aware of its existence to be able to use it effectively. It is the responsibility of the librarian to inform users of the availability of electronic resources and to teach them how to use them correctly. The need to provide users with appropriate skills is highly required and necessary given that most electronic resources are technologically advanced. Additionally, search methods vary from resource to resource. Thus, the need for a total reorientation of users to enable them achieve optimal utilization of available electronic resources. To achieve maximum utilization of electronic resources, library staff as well as library users must acquire and practice the skills necessary to exploit these electronic resources. The skills required to maximize the potential of electronic resources are far greater than those required to research printed sources. These skills include knowledge of the structure of databases and the instructions needed to search, access, and retrieve the necessary information, as well as an understanding of how the instructions relate to each other. The ability to find and retrieve information effectively is a necessary skill for all library staff and library users. There is therefore an urgent need to provide training and retraining facilities to library users so that they acquire the technical skills needed to access electronic resources.
