Essay / End of Semester Reflection Assessment: Nursing Student...
AssessmentThe goal of my learning plan for this semester is to develop health education skills specific to adolescents. I chose this as a learning objective because my internship this semester at Sunnybrook Hospital's injury prevention program gives me the opportunity to provide health education to high school students every Tuesday as part of our PARTY program. So I thought I should take this opportunity to develop my and improve my nursing skills in this field. Good health education skills for adolescents can benefit students by providing a motivating learning environment and better learning outcomes. I hope they can enjoy my teaching, absorb the information and use it in the future. I considered many factors in the process of developing my learning plan, such as nursing standards in health promotion, prevention and health protection, professional relationships, reinforcement abilities, etc. I thought about possible topics, such as possible topics related to injury prevention itself. for example, concussion prevention or sports-related injury prevention. I also thought about addressing topics specifically relevant to the PARTY program, such as teen suicide and prevention or distracted driving. After evaluating my internship and the clients which in this case are the students, I recognized that one of the goals of the program is to educate students about injuries and injury prevention. I have also discovered that our clients have a lot of potential to learn more about this topic, which can greatly improve their lives and influence behavior change to increase control over their own health and make better choices. Regarding my personal needs, I felt that I had room for improvement regarding my middle of paper......end in itself.. (pp. 1-32). Ottawa, Canada: Canadian Nurses Association.
