Essay / Wind Turbines - 1392
Wind turbines are an excellent source of energy all over the world. Wind turbines produce wind energy that can be used to power our homes. Wind turbines convert kinetic energy into mechanical power. This mechanical power is then transformed into electricity. Wind turbines produce power from the wind turning the large blades, which turn a shaft connected to the large blades, which then runs the generator producing electricity. A new idea is to build offshore wind turbines in the middle of the Atlantic. Offshore construction of wind turbines means that these large wind turbines will be placed in the Atlantic Ocean. The construction of these wind turbines will provide energy to states like Maryland, Delaware, New York, Virginia and New Jersey. These states want to start this project as soon as possible so they can start saving money. Given that these regions are currently burning fossil fuels out of control, with incredible impacts (not only on our air, but also on our health), it is crucial to start immediately. Offshore wind turbines will create more jobs, reduce pollution, stop the warming of our planet and save us on energy costs. These wind turbines can produce enough energy offshore to power around 500,000 homes. However, many people do not agree with this idea because they find it too expensive. Offshore wind turbines have been a topic of discussion for some time now and people just can't agree. There are proponents and problem makers, as well as pros and cons of this idea. Benefits of Offshore Wind Turbines in the Mid-Atlantic: Each of us has our own opinion on what wind turbines do, not what they actually are. intended for. Wind turbines are meant to be an energy saving method that can be used...... middle of paper...... have long-term effects. It is of course different for the Atlantic Ocean. Sound Science will be used to avoid, minimize and mitigate the direct and indirect impacts of this project. The main habitats and environmental resources likely to be affected are seabed habitats, coastal habitats, fisheries resources, marine mammals, marine and coastal birds and bats. The start of construction of these offshore wind turbines will disrupt the daily or seasonal movements of certain species. Some habitats will avoid disturbed areas and never return to these areas. When building these wind turbines, they should be placed as far from shore as possible, avoid sensitive areas, try not to build near areas already flagged by the state or federal government as having problems, and use best management practices to try to minimize project risk.
