In the film Iron Man by Jon Favreau, the story begins with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) aboard a military convoy with American soldiers in Afghanistan. While joking with the soldiers, their vehicle is suddenly attacked. Tony quickly runs away and hides behind a nearby rock while the soldiers try to fight but are quickly killed. He was more concerned with having a good time and partying. to work hard and care about improving your own business. When Tony was asked to accept an award for his achievements, his right-hand man Obadiah Stane (former partner of Tony's father, Howard Stark), wins the award in his place because Tony was nowhere to be found. That's when Stark's good friend, Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, goes looking for him and ends up finding him partying at a nearby casino, showing Tony's lack of respect for others. and only cares about what he wants to do instead of what he should do.
