    It is important to have a culture. Greenwood (1957) describes this as a “set of informal and formal groups”. Social workers entering the profession benefit from groups of all types already established. NASW, IFSW, and the North American Association of Christians in Social Work (NACSW) are just a few of the networking, support, and educational groups that exist within it. These groups are essential to ensuring that social workers have the support and enculturation they need to succeed. Forged from lessons learned over time, enculturation gives the professional social worker a solid foundation to build on, rooted in what has worked and what has stood the test of time. I look forward to one day joining organizations like NASW and the National Association of Black Social Workers. I believe these organizations will give me a legacy to defend, contribute to and ultimately pass on
