Essay / The Benefits of Plant Cover - 1159
In the fields, pollution can be found in the crops and in the planting method. The use of chemicals, such as pesticides and fertilizers, can be dangerous for humans and nature. For humans, due to the contamination that certain products, such as pesticides and herbicides (for weed control), can cause when applied, through exposure to them. These products, because they are dangerous for human health, must follow rules of application and restricted quantities (1). And when it is applied by a person, he must have special clothing and accessories (such as gloves and glasses) for his safety, so as not to be exposed to the toxicity of the substance. But sometimes this safe procedure does not happen. Pesticides found in developing countries with commercial agriculture when used by subsistence farmers are harmful because they are unaware of potential injuries and safety procedures (World Health Organization and Program of United Nations Environment, 1990). Cause disease or develop cancer on farms, and the risks of cancer incidence are higher among farmers and people who work with pesticide application than in the general population (Dich.J, 1997). Another aspect that can cause toxicity to humans is residues. pesticides found mainly in foods such as vegetables, fruits and grains. And it is possible that pesticides are linked to the cause of cancer, tumors and other diseases (Dick.J, 1997). Because of the relationship between residual pesticides and the development of disease, many people are switching to organic foods. Selected vegetables and fruits that are produced without reliance on pesticides, and second Christine McCullum-Gómez (2010), lists some commonly used fruits and vegetables...... middle of paper ......en, D.
