Essay / A letter of thanks - 672
The other day I went to scouts and we had a court of honor. During the court of honor, some people received rank advancements and Brother Ray talked about how they were on the path to Eagle Scout. For some reason the mention of Eagle Scout made me think of you and how you were a great example to everyone. I know you may not think so, but you were a great example to me and to all young men when you were here, and now that you are on a mission, you are an even greater example. In English class with Mrs. Cranston we are watching a movie called "One Small Act" and it was about a lady named Hilde Back who donated money for a child in Africa to go to school and then at university. The child eventually went to college and graduated. He eventually started a charity to help other children in Africa go to school. It made me think about all the small acts that happen every day and how they affect me and the people around me. Then I remembered thinking about the court of honor and you. I want to thank you for being you and for all the small acts of kindness. I also remember seeing a study that found people who show gratitude are happier than those who don't, and I thought this would be a great way for me to show you some gratitude . I'm not just writing because of the film or the study I saw, I'm writing especially because of the model you were for me, so when I say it took a long time to come, I thinks so. Every Wednesday I would go to activities and see you there socializing and having fun, but I also saw you setting a good example and admired you for that. Three points of your personality that really arouse my admiration are the way you behave in school, the way you behave in church and the way you behave in family and...... in the middle from a newspaper......at church or on Wednesdays In youth group, I always knew that if I spent time with you, I would be safe and happy. I knew you wouldn't put me or anyone around me down. This is a great feeling that I received from you, so I tried to follow your example so that I can have the same effect on other people. Going on a mission and being active in our church is a very good cause and it brings a lot of appreciation and admiration from me. You might try to just ignore this and say that you're not as good as I say you are, but please know that everything I say in this letter I truly support and believe with all my heart. There are very few people I hold in as much esteem as you. I am very sorry for not having written to you once since you left, but know that this will not be the last time that I write to you either by letter or by email..
