This restaurant is most popular for burritos and tacos. The name chipotle is derived from the Mexican Spanish name meaning smoked and dried jalepeno pepper. It is also considered one of the premier fast-casual restaurant chains. Chipotle's mission statement is "Food with Intergrity," meaning they strive to use organic ingredients and serve meat raised more naturally than other restaurant chains. Chipotle was founded by Steve Ells in 1993. Ellis attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, where he discovered the popularity of taquerias and used this concept to open the first Chipotle in Denver, Colorado in which he aimed to sell 107 burritos per day. They were selling around 1,000 burritos per day, a month after its inception. Then he opened several locations in Colorado, but they found an opening outside of Colorado, in Kansas City, in 1998. The biggest investor for Chipotle was McDonald's. Chipotle grew its business from 16 restaurants to 500 restaurants in 2005. It ranked eighth in U.S. sales, then moved to third in 2010. The 2011 Consumer Report ranked Chipotle as the best Mexican fast food chain in restaurants. Chipotle now serves approximately 750,000 customers per day. Chipotle is entirely a company-owned company. There are more than 1,430 Chipotle restaurants in the United States and Canada. It has held its location in 43 states while expanding its business...... middle of paper ...... restaurants. Chipotle was founded on July 13, 1993 by Steve Ellis in Denver, Colorado. It has more than 45,000 employees. It is committed to serving safe, high-quality food to its customers and values the individuality of their business, employees and customers.
