People can find what they want within minutes on web pages. Likewise, people are free to choose what they want to share online. Online file sharing opens many doors, including legal file sharing as well as illegal file sharing. People can easily break the copy and commit online crime by sharing unlicensed software online. This report aims to inform the reader about weak copyrights, recent ethical scandals in file sharing, what peer-to-peer file sharing is, open source software versus pirated software, solution to software piracy and different examples of legal online file sharing services. .1. Weak Copy Rights Copyrighted materials include everything, such as songs, movies, television shows, photographs, magazines, books, software, plays, and websites, which should benefit from copyright protection. Copyright law is the exclusive right to make copies of another's work. The law states that files cannot be shared, copied and executed without individual permission, for ethical reasons, and that it is illegal to share copyrighted files (TopTenVIEW, 2014) .2. However, individuals should not use peer-to-peer to download illegal files such as unlicensed software.
