    What seems to be the problem? A discussion of current problems in the American health care system. The American health care system is very complex in structure and can therefore be evaluated from various perspectives. From a certain point of view, it is described as the most unrivaled healthcare system in the world, with cutting-edge medical technology, high-quality human resources and constantly modernized facilities symbolizing the system. Added to this is the proliferation of innovations aimed at increasing life expectancy and improving quality of life as well as diagnostic and treatment options. At the other extreme are legitimate critiques of the system, calling it fragmented, inefficient and costly. What are the problems with the American healthcare system? These are the questions this opinion paper attempts to ask.IntroductionThe United States spends far more on health care than any other country in the world, and yet we get fewer benefits, less than ideal health outcomes and much dissatisfaction manifested by uneven access, large numbers of uninsured and underinsured Americans, uneven quality, and unconstrained waste. Healthcare financing is also complicated because there is no single payer system and payment systems vary among payers and providers.
