Prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination, and white privilege are all forms of racism in American society. Bao Phi illustrates using an example of how he feels about being a different skin color. A quote from his book says: "When the American language gets a taste for hot food, I'm going to open my own restaurant and charge people ten times the value of the food." » Many people find no discrimination in this quote because the price remains the same for everyone and does not depend on the color of someone's skin. For this to be a racist or discriminatory statement, all companies would have to charge differently based on skin color. Throughout his stories, Bao Phi gives beautiful examples of racism based on different skin colors and corresponding treatment. “I'm going to build landfills in white neighborhoods and make sure there's lead in the water supply. I will tell the cops to get rid of any white man they see walking around for suspicious behavior. Anecdotally, this is another example of racism based on skin color, with a difference from what is actually experienced in American society.
