It is especially crucial for our group members, as future nurses, to have a good understanding of mental health because we work closely collaboration with our patients and other members of our healthcare team. The Canadian Mental Health Association - Mental Illnesses in the Workplace (nd) writes that because certain symptoms of mental illness cause a person to become more withdrawn or act in a way than they usually do not, this could potentially strain relationships between work colleagues (para.5). Not only is it important to have a good understanding of mental illness in relation to our health care community members, but it is likely that we are caring for patients with mental disorders.
