  • Essay / Dream Analysis and Theory Essay - 827

During the two weeks that we recorded our dreams and sleep schedules, I made some very interesting discoveries and personal revelations. Many of these ideas come from related symbols that every dream shares. Before I begin to dismantle these dreams, their relationships to each other and to myself, let me tell you about each of them. The second dream I managed to record was extremely painful compared to the very first. I won't write about the first dream because I remember very little of its contents except for comparison purposes. I digress; this second dream took place in a very large house that was about to be called a mansion. It is assumed that this house belonged to my “Friend”, a being who seemed to simultaneously represent two people that I am and to whom I was close. I would come and hang out with them, but every time I tried to talk with them or join in their game, I was completely ignored. This became frustrating very quickly. Walking around to the other side of the house, I discovered an office similar to the one set up. For some reason, I had decided to write a letter. Unfortunately, I didn't have sufficient funds to send it and they refused to let me call my mother to ask for money. Luckily, I recognized someone who I now believe to be our school librarian in another office. She granted my request to use the phone, but after the irritating period I had experienced, I simply asked my mother to come pick me up. After that, I went back to my “friend” and explained to him that I was leaving. Once again, I was not recognized. I had a seizure, ran into a room, screaming and sobbing until my mother arrived. After a few days of not being able to remember my dreams, I had a more comical but disturbing dream. I seem to only see a fe...... middle of paper ......r. Houses also appeared quite frequently in my dreams. Every time I was inside a house, I was distressed and panicked. In my own thoughts, it might be anxiety about leaving and going out alone. Overall, I feel like my dreams show me my own anxieties, but they also pick out snippets of things that happened or thoughts I had during the period. week. I would say that dreams are a combination of our mind exposing our feelings and thoughts to us, as well as memories of things. You can either look at it as deeply as you want or not, but you will normally be able to identify the emotions you felt during the dream you are having. This in itself can say a lot about the dream you had and what it could have meant, without even knowing the full context. "Phone". Dream atmospheres. DreamMoods, Inc. November 15, 2013. Web.
