Essay / Secret Guide to Cooking - 1286
Humans, the most sociable creature, need others to live. A student needs teachers to help him. Mathematics, for example, is an academic subject that students learn at school from their teacher. Students also learn other academic subjects from textbooks with the guidance of the teacher with the aim of understanding the subject. Students become better students who gain more knowledge when they receive help from a teacher. Athletes become better athletes through the guidance of their coaches. In the book Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson tells the story of Morrie, a professor at Brandeis University who retired due to Lou Gehrig's illness. Morrie mentions the importance of teachers as people who guide others to a better direction (Albom 65). Teachers do not necessarily have to be university teachers. For me, my teacher is my nanny, Ekom, who guides me towards a better direction. My nanny, who is in charge of the kitchen, taught me to disobey certain rules in the kitchen. When making peanut paste, people in my country Indonesia always use food grinding. Food grinding in Indonesia carried out with a large plate stone and a pestle stone. People have put a lot of effort into making a good peanut paste, which is time-consuming and smooth. However, she prefers to use a blender which achieves a faster and smoother consistency than grinding the food. Sometimes it's better to disobey the rules to get better results. My nanny also told me about the culture of Bali, where she was born. Unlike the culture of other Indonesian provinces, which has faded due to the influence of Westernization, the culture of Bali remains strong. One of the cultures of Bali is that locals use rice, uncooked rice, as prayer installations, which they soak in sandalwood water and then pray. Sometimes they could... middle of paper ... it was done, but it was too late. Morrie's arrogance makes him lost and cannot forgive Norman. Arrogance is the negative side of human pride and always has a negative impact on people's lives. Mak Ekom took care of me and guided me to become a better person. She taught me important things like how to live, how to distinguish others and how to behave. She thought everything in the simplest way, which was very easy for me to understand. Many of his tips were thought out in the kitchen. Mak Ekom was the best nanny, chef, but teacher. There is always someone to guide others. Sometimes people just don't realize who the people who influence them are. Works Cited Albom, Mitch. Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson.
