    They are not used to taking the risks necessary to undertake this learning. Their high school experience was all teacher-centered teaching and it's hard to give up that old habit. Without proper encouragement and instruction, the student risks failing and falling back into the familiar learning style that led to their current success. Without a clear understanding of their role, they risk failure. This is a complete change in both the teaching and learning process and will take time to take root for both the student and the student.
