    Having a wide range of interests would be bad in the ideal society because people would stray from the specific work assigned to them. “The desires of many worthless people are controlled by the desires and knowledge of a few honest people.” When they walk away from this work, they leave society weaker because not everyone has a specific role. However, in today's society, people who do not have a broad range of interests are ignorant. Knowledge comes from experiences and when people are ignorant, they don't know much about the world.
