Essay / Snape's Struggle - 909
The character of Severus Snape progressed more and more in each book. When I started the Harry Potter series, I hated Snape in the first four books, and it wasn't until JK Rowling started to further develop Snape as a character that I could really begin to understand why he was acting Thus. Snape went from being a Death Eater to the one who gave his life for Harry Potter. He was a controversial character who had hidden most of his life from readers, which created many potential outlets for fan fiction. I created a fanfiction that filled the hole of what ultimately allowed him to switch sides, which had a lasting impact on the war against Voldemort. The story goes that Snape visits Voldemort and learns how Harry Potter will die. Lily Potter's death was the only reason Severus Snape changed his allegiance to the Order of the Phoenix, while Snape showed us that love can be more powerful than any evil. JK Rowling explained that Snape had a relationship with Lily Potter very early in his life. young people with the quote: “You thought we were supposed to be friends? Best friends? "We Are, Sev", which highlights Snape as a child wanting to reaffirm that Lily truly cared for him (JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). This conversation shows us that Snape's relationship with Lily extended throughout his early childhood. This is important because JK Rowling talks about how her family situation was far from hospitable. So throughout Snape's childhood, he relied on Lily for constant friendship to help him with his childhood problems. Knowing how long Snape had feelings for Lily helped me develop my creative writing to describe Snape's emotions when he was summoned to hear about Voldemort's plans. ...... middle of paper ...... attracted dark magic so completely that he became a member of the Death Eaters at a very young age and was probably only recruited by Voldemort when he was demonstrated that they had similar goals. . Despite her pursuit of evil forces, Lily Potter's death changed everything. His intense love was evident from a young age and only grew until his death. This can be seen by her changing her Patronus to a doe and her pleading with Dumbledore to help Lily hide from Voldemort. My creative writing creates a situation where he goes from a man who enjoyed mudblood torture to a polarity shift of a man begging for Dumbledore to protect the woman he has always loved. Without a crucial change in his thought process to help the only person he loved, he would have remained on Voldemort's side. Without love, the First Wizarding War would have been very different..
