The literature review relating to the present study “Siddha Medicinal Plants” is discussed below. INTRODUCTION: Plants have been an exemplary source of medicine since ancient times. Ayurveda and other Indian publications mention the use of plants in the treatment of various human diseases (Grover et al., 2002). Over the centuries, medicinal plants have been the mainstay of treatment for tribal practitioners. (Rahmatullah et al., 2012). Interest in medicinal plants has been re-emerging. Health assistance has been fueled by the increasing cost of prescription drugs for maintaining health and well-being also in bioprospecting for new plant-derived drugs (Hoareau and DaSilva, 1999). There are approximately 45,000 plant species found in India and among them, several thousand are believed to have medicinal properties (Grover et al., 2002). Traditionally, plants are used as a source of medicine in India by indigenous people of different ethnic groups. inhabiting various terrains for the control of various diseases affecting humans and their domestic animals (Panghal et al., 2010). Generally, medicinal plants contain inherent active ingredients used to cure diseases or relieve pain (Okigbo et al., 2008). Approximately 100 plant species have potentially contributed to modern medicines and the properties of medicinal plants may be based on the antioxidant, antimicrobial and antipyretic effects of the phytochemicals they contain (Cowman, 1999; Adesokan et al., 2008) such as phytochemical compounds (alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids). and terpenes) present in the active extracts, tannins and flavonoids would also be a cause of the antidiarrheal activity by increasing the reabsorption of water and electrolytes in the colon (Palombo et al., 2006). article......Chawla, 2003). Recent bioinformatics literature includes numerous articles on databases, arguing for better large scientific databases and the systematic changes needed to achieve this goal (Nelson, et al., 2003). Many databases available for medicinal plants are: • ENVIS – Encyclopedia of Indian Medicinal Plants (envis.frlht.org/indian-medicinal-plants-database.php) • National Council of Medicinal Plants (http:/ /www.nmpb .nic.in/)• Medicinal plants (http://www.medicinalplantdatabase.com/)• Encyclopedia of Ayurvedic medicinal plants (http://herbs.indianmedicinalplants.info/)MySQL developers are proud of the success of their product as the majority of people use MySQL for the majority of applications and it is particularly well suited to web applications. It's cost-effective, fast and powerful (Greenspan and Bulger 2001).
