Women were constantly restricted in the early thirties, preventing them from expressing their individuality. They were constantly confronted with society's expectations. Women also face other challenges, such as different expectations from people in their social classes. These multiple expectations have created a barrier for many women that few have dared to break. These expectations led to a constant schedule for these women, resulting in their entire lives already being planned out for them while they had to act as their social calendar suggested. Throughout history, women have been considered the weaker sex. Even in a multitude of religions, women are not treated equally. Think about Saudi women: they can't even drive a car on their own and are certainly not considered equal to men. The world's largest religion, Christianity, even discriminates against women: "... do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a man, but to be silent” (Timothy 2:12). Anthony provided many girls and women with ideas and standards by which they should live their lives.
