Soon the boy, after exchanging small talk with the mysterious man in the black suit, decides to run towards the river gap where his father advised him to stay away. He quickly started running, and running until he discovered his mother had died. Soon scared, he runs even more to find his father and runs towards him quickly. With this, Stephen King, with his main theme being fear, finds a way to add other themes to the overall theme of fear and survival. Making up lies is what the boy did when he met his father. With that, the boy wonders if he was lucky when it came to escaping the man in the black suit. This gives a mystery-type theme to the story, which leaves some readers wondering. In the story The Man in the Black Suit, a young boy encounters two things that can be symbolized as death because they were both there to get to the boy. Eventually the bee was exterminated but the mysterious man, who lost the young boy, haunted the boy until the man grew old. Stephen King uses many types of objects that show symbolism in the short story. Ultimately, the story gives readers something to think about after reading this.
