    “Harassment” is a term used to describe harassment or unwanted and repeated contact. 1 in 6 women and 1 in 19 men have been harassed in their lifetime (harassment statistics, 2014). This is a very serious crime that is often overlooked due to embarrassment or underestimation of its seriousness. However, harassment can very quickly become violent. Some simply threaten their victims and never take it further (harassment, 2014), but other cases can become quite serious. Stalkers are typically socially awkward, immature, and jealous (stalking, 2014). The three types of harassment are simple obsessive syndrome, cyberbullying and false victimization syndrome. Simple obsessiveSimple obsessive stalking is the most common type. It usually involves two ex-spouses and the stalker is trying to repair the relationship. The stalker begins to obsess when the relationship ends (emotionally disturbed/mentally ill stalkers, 2014). This type of harassment can lead to domestic violence. The attacker usually seeks revenge because he feels betrayed by the victim (forms of harassment, 2014). The abuser usually seeks revenge on the victim because he may have broken their heart. The attacker is in most cases a man and has already had a relationship with the victim. He/she is obsessed with repairing the relationship between them and trying to get revenge (about stalkers, 2014). The victim is usually a woman. It is crucial to be careful if one begins to notice signs that they are being stalked, as the abuser can quickly become violent.
