SushiWhen the moment presents itself and you place a perfectly sized bite of sushi on your tongue, whatever the type of sushi, they all have one thing in common: a mixture of beautiful complex flavors all working together to create a unique taste worthy of the gods. It starts out a little bitter because of the rice vinegar used in preparing the sushi rice, then salty because of the seaweed packaging, a strong fishy flavor is usually predominant in the mixture, and when you start to chew, you will notice the crunchiness of a few. finely chopped vegetables, perhaps cucumber, carrots or water chestnuts depending on the type of sushi you are trying. Flavors can be balanced by adding a creamy ingredient. Cream cheese or avocado are popular choices, the creamy texture adds another facet to the complex taste of sushi. The sweet, tangy and strong flavor of pickled ginger can be placed on top to add even more flavor and cleanse the palate between each piece. When all of these flavors blend together to create a whole new experience for the palate, then you can truly appreciate what sushi is. With so many flavors and a limitless combination of ingredients, there are bound to be at least a few types of sushi that everyone can enjoy. The best sushi uses fresh ingredients and carefully learned skills to assemble a work of art that will melt in your mouth the more you eat it. Sushi rice, which can be made from white or brown rice, is the staple of almost all sushi, although there are new creations using alternatives like quinoa, beans and even couscous. Traditional sushi rice has a slightly sweet and sour taste that cleans the mouth with every bite.
