    Being Infinite The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is a poignant coming-of-age story about a teenager named Charlie who is entering his junior year from high school. and trying to cope with death, life, friends and sexuality. Chobosky does a remarkable job of portraying all of these issues through the eyes of a shy, introverted teenager. The reader will be shocked, amazed, and grateful to join Charlie on his path to achievement and growth. The story is actually written as a series of letters from Charlie to an anonymous "friend." Charlie reveals his secrets, his stories, his fears, his worries and his observations to this “friend”. Perks is based in western Pennsylvania and Charlie is starting his junior year of high school when the story takes place. He is reluctant and insecure and enters the school year with a handful of struggles and insecurities. He is still trying to understand and cope with his best friend's suicide from the previous year. In addition to being haunted by guilt over the death of a close aunt from his childhood, Charlie feels discouraged and confused. Charlie has no companion when he enters high school, but soon becomes friends with a small group of seniors.
