One of the most controversial debates of this era is the question of the national language in the United States. Although many countries have declared English as their official language, the American bicameral houses have persisted in recognizing English as their official language. In his article "In Plain English: Let's Make It Official", Charles Krauthammer reflects on the contrasting views in our country on this issue and supports his idea that a comprehensive plan to guarantee language rights should be adopted by the bodies legislative.
