I accept most of Dan Ariely's arguments/ideas in this video. But there are few points on which I would not agree with him. The author argued that the number of bionicles constructed in the second condition of the experiment was less than that constructed in the first condition, because the bionicles were dismantled in front of the people. I would like to argue against him because people were told that the bionicles would be taken apart and used for the next participants. People know that the bionicles they built would be taken apart at some point. It makes no difference what time they were taken down since people know the truth that they will be taken down at some point. Most children play with Legos. Even though they know they have to take them apart and put them back carefully by the end of the day, kids would still love to play with them. Assuming that the people the experiment was performed on were adults, there is no point in people being disappointed when they know their bionicles would be destroyed, because they know that...
