Essay / Persuasive Essay on Waste Management - 1039
We often forget the consequences of our actions because we believe that we are not obligated to the Earth, but that the Earth is obligated to us by nature. The waste produced around the world, including electronic, chemical and liquid waste, is hazardous to all living beings and therefore the status quo for dealing with these types of waste is to incinerate it and then bury it underground. However, the waste management facility my group and I researched, Scholl Canyon Management, does not accept or burn hazardous waste due to its hazardous effects. Since the Scholl Canyon facility does not accept hazardous waste due to regulations, this raises a question about our current waste management ethics and practices. On the other hand, they treat ordinary non-recyclable waste by packaging it collectively underground, layer by layer. Although the Scholl Canyon facility does not collect hazardous waste, it still practices techniques that could have unintended consequences. So, if Leopold, Abbey and Berry were in sight of the landfill, they would all agree to change the practice of recycling due to limitation, unintended consequences and internal problems
