The aim of this seminar is to describe one of the classics of science fiction – 2001: A Space Odyssey and its Creator. The introduction mainly talks about director and co-writer Stanley Kubrick, considered one of the best filmmakers of the 20th century. The article includes and summarizes his philosophy of cinema and his general positions regarding working with actors, scenes. and other aspects of the film. The introductory part attempts to answer two questions: why Stanley Kubrick can be called the pioneer of cinematic art, and why his name and personality became immortal. The main part focuses on the film and develops the main ideas. , the original plot and techniques, which were used in the film for the first time in the history of cinema. This part also includes the main differences between the novel and the film, and the main reasons why these differences were made. The next part is dedicated to Kubrick's collaboration with NASA and concerns his influence on new technologies, which appears in the film and became reality in the following years. The final part summarizes the contribution of Kubrick's work to world cinematography and highlights the main aspects that made him and his film unforgettable. Film critics and scholars consider Kubrick one of the greatest filmmakers for his "dazzling" adaptations of novels and short stories. He is the director of major film adaptations and our question is: Why? Kubrick was a filmmaker belonging to the group of young progressive directors of the 1970s. Their style is marked as New Hollywood.
