    Context and OrientationThe most basic explanation found for packaging is "the materials used to package or protect goods." However, today this definition has expanded based on the development of packaging over the years. The Oxford Dictionary describes packaging design as “the science, art and technology of enclosing or protecting products for distribution, storage, sale and use”. has progressed from containers provided by nature to the more complex use of materials and processes, providing a change from what is displayed on grocery store shelves today. Several factors have contributed to the reason for packaging, including market competition as well as changing lifestyles. As the product market grew, consumers moved from purchasing the products they needed to selecting a product based on a unique design and label to decorate their counters, making Consumer choice a very important factor when it comes to packaging. Necessity of the study “Reality is only an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. » ~Albert Einstein There are a wide variety of opinions on how and why perceptions are formed, but the most basic finding is that perceptions are a form of stereotyping, used to recognize what our brains want to see. These perceptions can allow us to automatically draw conclusions that may or may not reflect the truth of the situation. On a daily basis we draw these conclusions when removing an item from the shelf, we base our opinion on the design of the packaging rather than its contents, raising the question of whether or not the society in which we live has given us changes our purchasing experience to buy what we want based on what we see, what we really need.
