The story has developed more and more as the story continues to present different themes. This also helped make the red Oldsmobile convertible the centerpiece. Themes of brotherhood/family, war, and neglect help the Oldsmobile become the focal point of the story and develop the story as it unfolds. Without these themes the story would not have been the story it developed into due to the inability to bring the story together and support the car as the central element.
