  • Essay / Essay on Being an Archetype - 631

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is the first film in a three-part series. Frodo Baggins is the main character of the film and is an archetypal hero. After watching the film, one can't help but connect Frodo's experiences to those of humanity. We all face challenges in life and sometimes as a human we have to face these challenges or tasks. Staying calm and completing these challenges or tasks will reward you once you overcome the feat. Frodo is an example in a mythological fantasy world that can also relate to humanity in the real world when it comes to tasks related to being human. Frodo is considered an archetypal hero because he is the one who must defeat or ruin the Dark Lord's plans. He has a task to do, like all of us, and although it was imposed on him, he accepted the challenge. He is seen as the protagonist of the film while the Dark Lord is the antagonist. At first, Frodo doubts and worries about the task at hand. It is up to him to decide if he wants to risk his life for this good deed, not only for himself but for the people. Frodo is considered a hero because he takes on the challenge or task and knows what needs to be done. Even though the challenge is difficult, Frodo still decides to take it on. Destroying the Dark Ring and foiling the Dark Lord's plans is no easy task, but Frodo, like the hero he is, shows in the film that he will accept the task. Choosing to risk his own life to defeat the Dark Lord shows that he is truly a hero. Frodo's experiences are universal to humanity. For some, a fight against your own evil trying to bring you down can concern both Frodo and humanity. Facing challenges and tasks that you might not want... middle of paper ... we believe that no matter who we are, anything is possible as long as we go out there and do our best to achieve this. As the saying goes, “there is always light at the end of the tunnel.” We are all capable of learning something from Frodo. It shows us that we can all be heroes in our own way. His experiences are comparable to those of humanity and show that even when we face challenges and feel like giving in, there is always hope and we can overcome the challenge or task at hand. Frodo is a role model we can look up to in the real world because he is not much different from us. Just like us, he knows the pros and cons, but he's up to the challenge. Always working hard and having a positive mindset will lead you to bigger and better things in life and you will end up feeling like a hero in your own vision and in your own world. Frodo is both a hero and an inspiring role model for me.
