    Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever is becoming a major disease in many countries, but particularly in Montenegro. Montenegro may not seem like much of a concern, but it badly needs your help. The Organization for Disease Prevention in Developing Countries would be the perfect charity to help me raise awareness and fight Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in Montenegro. Before explaining to you my proposal for the treatment and prevention of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, I would like you to better understand this disease. “Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is one of the most widely distributed viral hemorrhagic fevers » (Crimea-Congo, 2007). “It’s very common in Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East and Asia; in countries south of the 50th parallel north” (WHO, 2013). This disease is transmitted by ticks and livestock. Sheep, cattle and goats are typical hosts of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever. “These animals are infected by the bite of an infected tick and the virus remains in their blood for about a week after infection, allowing the tick-animal-tick cycle to continue when another tick bites” (WHO , 2013). Although many types of ticks can be vectors, the most common tick vector of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is the Hyalomma tick. Hyalomma ticks store the virus in their bodies and transmit it to animals and humans. (Crimea-Congo). Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever can be fatal when a human is infected, but may not be apparent in an animal (Crimea-Congo, 2007).
