    I started conforming to the people at my school at the time. I wanted to be liked in a positive way, I didn't want to be made fun of anymore, so I changed my behavior to fit in. I knew I had to do it, but I didn't accept that it was right. I achieved public compliance but not private acceptance and this is a key factor in normative social influence. I accepted the social norms of this different culture and so I did what others did. Normative social influence theory allowed me to conform for social gain rather than informational reasons.
