1. IntroductionThis report has benefited from advice, guidance and review of best practice community collaboration in planning the regeneration of Castle Vale. In the context of the new urban regeneration programme, it is therefore important to examine the factors which brought about the success of the Castle Vale regeneration program and the challenges faced in the hope of informing future regeneration policies in the city of Birmingham or above and beyond.1.1. Background - Subject Site • Brief information on the location of Castle Vale: -- Castle Vale is located between Erdington, Minworth and Castle Bromwich, approximately 9 km north-east of Birmingham city center (google maps).Figure 1 . At first, the estate consisted of 34 towers as well as a mixture of cottages and houses. This area was initially redeveloped throughout the 1960s to provide housing for people who had to be rehoused following the clearance of slums in Birmingham city centre.
