Her biggest learning curve occurred when she was promoted to project manager at age 24 and sent to a town 70 miles away at her home. She was sent to a non-social work environment. which presented many obstacles to work. The people she had to work with showed her little to no support, which thwarted her efforts. She wanted to stop, but she thought about the hope lost by the same people she was helping. She decided to stay, but soon after, she began to suffer from burnout and work-related fatigue. She also felt homesick because she was away from her mother, who she considers her pillar in life and a person she looks up to whenever she has a problem. She tells me that those who choose to help others do so because it is their nature to help others out of problems, as she fiddles with her corn.
