Most of the students at my school were responsible for guiding and encouraging the people who were running. It was one of my favorite events because I felt like my small gesture of just guiding people and encouraging them to keep running for something important had meaning. While guiding and encouraging the runners, a small child came up to me and put a stick on my head to congratulate me on my motivation. I also enjoyed the Heifer Foundation and World Wildlife fundraiser that I participated in, as the club leaders and teacher all agreed to organize a painting day to encourage people to come to the event and to donate money. I was able to incorporate one of my passions: raising funds to save animals and giving underprivileged people an animal to feed their family. Through the NHS I have learned a lot about how events are run and the impact I can make by volunteering. Thanks to Interact, I also participated in some volunteer events. In grade 11, I participated in a Boredom Busters event and created a set of coloring sheets for children at a hospital.
