IntroductionGeneral Douglas Macarthur was one of the most famous military figures in United States history. He delivered his farewell address to Congress on April 19, 1951, and retired after 52 years of service in the United States Army. He had the opportunity to send his last message to the American government. This analysis carefully examines its ethics, objectives, strategies, strengths and weaknesses. The speech is very famous and very popular among the American public. Therefore, we will consider all factors to critically evaluate the speech and discover what makes it important.Historical BackgroundDouglas Macarthur was born on January 26, 1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to General Arthur Macarthur and his wife, Mary Pinckney Hardy. Like his father, he decided to pursue a military career and joined the army. He attended the West Point Military Academy and graduated as a major in 1903. He began his career as an engineer officer in the Army, but rose through the ranks and became a general. He was also nominated and received several honors and awards throughout his life. He was known for being aggressive, radical, and courageous, which led him to make decisions that were not generally approved of (McCullough). Early in his career, Douglas Macarthur was sent to the Philippines and Panama and was promoted to prime minister. lieutenant.
