Visual Analysis: Army CommercialAfter watching a few videos based on US Army propaganda while on a popular media site, it was quite strange, since I am currently enlisted in the ranks. The military is also something you normally see in various forms such as billboards, television and of course the soldiers themselves. I would like to look at the whole concept of what videos represent and how they capture the attention of the viewer, audience or consumer. If a person is somewhat or completely opposed to the military, after watching the ads the viewer might have second thoughts. Overall, the videos organize the three rhetorical techniques in a unique way, where they grab a person's attention. I can easily say that in the field of Ethos, the videos perform exceptionally well, and of course, the military is very well known for many of its features both at home and abroad and of course, the American army was created more than two years ago. a hundred years ago, in 1775, a year before the Declaration of Independence! As for Pathos, it moves the viewer with its different scenes because they are inspiring, motivating, intriguing, etc., hence why it could possibly change the person's perspective from bad to good, but in the end Ultimately, it depends on the person looking. In the Logos technique it comes across as a relationship with the viewer and how the viewer could benefit from the military in many ways just by wearing a single uniform, or if you are a person from the civilian world you will feel a little more safe knowing that the military will defend the United States with all their might. The videos also use technical figures to try to show how many military personnel and vehicles we have at our disposal at this very moment...... middle of paper ...... one of the most thought-provoking scenes is that where the male character giving the order to “Present Arms”, and there, after the soldiers carry out the order, it basically sends shivers through my body and maybe even the other viewer. In the scene where all the soldiers salute the American flag, that alone sends a huge sense of pride and explains why every soldier fights for this country. According to Logos, again this doesn't give much to show for it, however, it gives the aura that if a person is in the military they will become wiser, more respected and more accepted. Comparing and contrasting videos is pretty simple. In contrast, the first video represents more Ethos and the second exudes more evidence of Pathos. In comparison, they both lure the viewer in with various emotional scenes in an attempt to gain the audience's respect..
