  • Essay / Persuasive Essay on Poverty in America - 1226

No matter what the government or any private party does to help poor people, it will not be enough unless poor people are willing to help themselves- same. We can provide them with massive aid, but it depends on their determination to escape poverty. If someone is comfortable in poverty and doesn't see why they should change, nothing we do will help them. These are the people who make it more difficult for those who want to escape poverty. When the majority look at people living in poverty, our first thought is that they should work harder to get out. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Many people currently living in poverty do not want to stay there, but poverty is a cycle and it takes determination and outside help to lift these people out of poverty. Many people who try to escape poverty become discouraged and give up because they think they will never be able to escape. If we were to create free support groups for those struggling to get out of poverty, I think more people would be able to take that big step and get out of poverty. Ending poverty is possible, but it won't be easy. It will take an entire nation to achieve this. People who are not currently living in poverty should feel grateful. If everyone supported those who are trying to escape poverty and those who are doing better instead of feeling superior to them, poverty would disappear sooner.
