Birth order not only determines the order in which people are born, it can also determine the characteristics a person will acquire. There are, however, several ways to determine birth order. This is not always the case, they are the oldest, so they have these character traits. The gender of the child and the age gap between children can also determine birth order. Blended families and adoption also make a difference. Depending on the child's age at the time of adoption, their birth order characteristics may change, placing them in a new position. In stepfamilies, most of the time the order does not change because the child is older and has already fully developed in that order. I tell them I know what I'm doing and I don't need their help. I work best when I do things on my own time and schedule rather than on a schedule set by someone else. Clifford also said that the ease of compromising is one of the traits common to most firstborns. Everyone I've talked to can say I'm not a good compromiser at all, it's like keeping two bulls away from a fight.
