The Civil War broke out due to the succession of South Carolina. The war was fought either because it was for the Union or for independence from the Confederacy. Twain had to look for a job and so participated in the Confederate militia. He played a brief role in the militia, which lasted only two weeks, without having much impact on the Civil War. Subsequently, Twain received an invitation to a mining job with his older brother Orion in Nevada. Twain took the job because he hated the militia and needed money to support his family. Twain never went on a trip and this was his first time away from home. He hoped to become rich and wealthy, but following a difficult time and hard work with his older brother, he left. Twain always held in his hands the responsibility of caring for
