  • Essay / Philosophy of education - 1015

Philosophy of educationWhat is education? Is it only, as we define it, about the transmission and acquisition of knowledge through teaching and learning? Is education only something you receive in a school. For me, education begins at birth; a journey that has begun, as you experience new things, you learn and grow mentally and emotionally. By the time a child starts school, they have learned a multitude of things, including walking, talking, listening. This is just the beginning of his learning career. My beliefs are that all children can learn that they have the right to be educated and to be safe in the environment in which they learn, these things are essential. To begin with, I believe that every child or person can learn. What they learn is different because everyone is different. Yes, I know there are children with special needs, but they can learn. Mental development is essential to growing emotionally. Limits should not be set or taken for granted if a child has special needs or is slow. Not every child or student will have the ability to complete level courses, that does not mean they should not be considered not worth teaching. They need to learn life skills to become productive in their lives. Learning does not necessarily mean it has to be academic. Learning is something people do every day. We need to ensure that we are producing lifelong learners and that by starting early we can capture and stimulate their minds. We also have students who have language barriers, I don't think they should be penalized for that; they also deserve to have an education. Homeless and at-risk children also need education. People often forget that we have this kind of... middle of paper ... it's now something that is at the forefront of every parent's mind. A person can no longer simply enter a school without first having to provide identification in order to gain access to the school. Some people find this intrusive, but they need to understand that this is done with the safety of our children in mind. So you see, I have very strong beliefs that all children should receive and deserve the opportunity to succeed. How we measure success should be a function of each individual. Not everyone will be a doctor, lawyer or teacher. We have to occupy many positions in our society, which is why we must be versatile in our teachings. However, I firmly believe that all children, regardless of their needs and obstacles, have the capacity to learn. And that every child has the right to an education in a safe environment.
