Essay / The Life of Becoming a Veterinarian - 1535
Many animals were injured before people realized the need for licensed practitioners of veterinary medicine. 2“The first schools of veterinary medicine opened their doors in 1762. Its founder, Alexandre François, sought to make veterinary medicine a respected science” (Bernstein 206). After Alexander opened the schools, veterinary medicine became respected and a greater number of specialties became available to students. “Veterinary careers fall into two categories: working directly or indirectly with animals. People who work directly with animals and care for their health and well-being include veterinarians, animal groomers, and zookeepers” (Hurwitz 8). Vets must have the stamina and heart to perform respiratory surgeries in the blink of an eye one second, then give injections to a puppy the next. Becoming a veterinarian can be dangerous, stressful, fun and hard work, but there is great joy in bringing happiness to an animal who needs you.
