Shrek The Musical EssayIn my opinion, Shrek The Musical was a wonderful play that brought the fairy tale of Shrek's childhood to life on stage. The costumes, props and set designs were of good quality and it was evident that a lot of time and effort had gone into the play. The story of Shrek was brought to life on Broadway and was very realistic and very well produced. The costumes in Shrek The Musical were the cherry on top of an already well-produced play. Shrek and Fiona looked like real ogres and were very realistic with the green face and body paint. From head to toe, Shrek looked like a true ogre. His clothes topped him with an ogre-like appearance and made him seem very far from human. Similarly, when Fiona transformed into an ogre, she imagined an ogre from head to toe. The donkey costume was also very realistic. He looked a lot like Donkey in the movie and his ears brought the whole costume to life. Lord Farquaad's costume was the most interesting in my opinion. His costume was very creatively made to make him look oddly small. He walked on his knees throughout the show and there was a piece of black fabric with short legs on the front to hide his actual legs. His makeup, especially his eyebrows, made him look more sassy, which fit his character very well. The flashy gems and fabric of his suit made him look like a king, which suited him just fine since he is the king of the room. Another costume that stood out to me was that of Pinnochio. His nose growing when he lied was very creative and also very realistic. The body paint on his face and arms made him look like a real doll and his shoes were a nice touch to the costume in my opinion. The props throughout the room were also very well m...... middle of paper. .....stairs. This gave the room a more fairy-tale vibe during this scene and really brought the whole scene together. The last element that I found very important to the piece was the theme. The theme was the main element of the musical and basically the only reason why several actors, directors, producers, prop masters, etc. spent so much time and effort putting the piece together. One of the major themes of the musical was the theme of acceptance. Ogres are not typical characters in widely accepted fairy tales. The story of Shrek and Fiona teaches people that it's okay to be different and be yourself, which I think is a very important lesson. In conclusion, Shrek The Musical was a very creative and well produced piece that I really enjoyed watching. The costumes, props, backgrounds and theme all helped bring the whole piece to life..
