  • Essay / My Personal Experience - 1446

As a political scientist, I have a firm grip on my opinions. The hardest part was settling on a certain subject. Almost every example I was given to write this article about had an opinion that I had an opinion about. I am confident in the choice of race relations in America. I felt knowledgeable on the subject and had a personal touch on the subject. I realized that race relations in America was a very broad topic. So I chose a narrower topic. I've written about how technology has recently changed race relations in America. Social media, smartphones, news media and body cameras have revolutionized the movement. Even though I had changed the topic from its previous introduction in the opinion paper, it was still the main topic needed for the research paper. The research paper felt like familiar territory after the personal articles from earlier in the semester. However, I did not expect my research paper to be so personal. For me, the most difficult thing about research papers is maintaining an unbiased view of the subject. Being a minority in the United States and writing about race relations, although not mine, was sometimes personal and opinionated. Whenever I moved into dangerous territory with my opinions, I always tried to back them up with facts. There was a very thin line in the newspaper that separated opinions and facts. I may have reached the line a few times, but I don't think I crossed it at all.
