Emily Dickinson, born December 10, 1830, was a famous poet from Amherst, Massachusetts. Emily was very isolated most of her life. She wrote thousands of poems about death. Emily Dickinson was a very respectful child. She was well mannered to everyone she met. She attended school for seven years while learning several subjects including literature, geology, English and Latin. She watched her friend and cousin fall ill and die shortly after. Emily Dickinson followed a religious path. She idealizes religion in most of her poetry. She decided to stay home at all times and focused on her poetry. Many people did not understand his distance from the rest of the world. How can you justify the importance of your contribution to the world with an agonizing belief? Emily stayed in her family's home, rarely meeting people from outside. (Online Biography, 2010) Emily was isolated from the rest of her social class. Although Emily Dickson had left the rest of the world, she still sat in her room and wrote poetry. She wrote several which were not published until her death. She was integrated into a wealthy and practicing family. Emily Dickinson did not attend religious sessions. She didn't have any serious relationships. Emily had many male friends and acquaintances, but never pursued an intimate relationship. Emily began having a relationship with a woman who became the wife of Emily's brother shortly after. Emily Dickinson is now a well-known writer with intense passion, heart, pain, and heartbreak. We may not know Emily Dickinson personally, but we can see her long journey of isolation from herself and the world. Poetry and letters are probably what allowed him to live so long. Emily Dickinson's life plays a role in the humanities by applying critical thinking to aspects of her life. The humanities allow me to better understand the human mind and the difference between one era and another, which leaves room for biased ideas. It definitely showed me the importance of humanities.
