Essay / Finding compatibility between my personality traits,...
Before entering the pre-professional program in medicine and health sciences, I never thought that choosing a good career was difficult. Since I was in college, I already had my future career in mind, that of a doctor. To be honest, I never knew that there are more than 10 specialized doctors who require different personal characteristics, but when I entered high school, I wanted to become a surgeon like my father. At that moment, I thought how amazing and ironic it was that cutting people could save their lives. However, after taking a number of surveys available in the program to learn about my personality and interests, I understood myself better than ever. According to the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and True Color, I discovered that my personality trait is ISTJ: Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Judgment. And, for the high interest inventory profile, my main theme is ICR: investigative, conventional and realistic. Surprisingly, they reflect most of my personality, interests, favorite environment, and top ten jobs. As I enter this career field, I will surely encounter a number of challenges, but in order to maximize my fit with the career, I must find ways to enhance these areas. To be a surgeon, one must have effective and excellent skills. communication skills, strong physical endurance, good leadership and the ability to quickly resolve problems. Above all, surgeons must be very good with their hands. While researching my career requirements, I discovered that my type of personality traits and preferred work environment are different from those of surgeons. Although I am an introvert, I enjoy working independently and need time alone to isolate myself. Additionally, I find ...... middle of paper ...... close friends, and then gradually expand my social media lists. Whenever I want to develop my career, I can take the time to speak personally with my colleagues and listen to their responses. I should remember their important personal dates like birthdays, anniversaries or achievements and give them a surprise or congratulate them. When it comes to teamwork, I need to analyze my colleagues' talents and assign them tasks from my task lists. At the moment, I am already committed to pursuing a career in the medical field as a surgeon, but I will also prepare myself for unexpected situations that cause me to change careers. Therefore, if I were to change careers, I would choose careers in the medical field that require the same basic courses or specialization as surgeons such as pharmacists, surgical assistants, biochemists or physicians..
