    Diversity in the workplace is one of the most key elements that every business and society must possess and utilize. The many types of diversity in the workplace are what allow us to function so well as a society and as effective businesses. The goal of having a diverse workplace is to broaden the knowledge and experience of everyone in that company. These aspects of diversity are what constitute a successful and highly functional work environment. A diverse workplace is essential because it embodies a compilation of all ideas, cultures and human backgrounds brought together in a group of inventive and forward-thinking individuals. Leaders are looking for an A-team type atmosphere that will work very well with inventive ideas and able to apply all kinds of ideals from their colleagues because of the diversity. The concept of diversity in the workplace in simple terms is what essentially makes us human but different. Griffin and Morehead state that it is somewhat of a compilation of various factors such as gender, age, race, religion, beliefs and cultural background, as well as significant others . You could say that yes, everyone is different and they bring something to the table, but it is this individuality that makes them so unique in the workplace while being so effective at integrating ideas. There are many degrees and variations in diversity in the workplace that cover the range of differences people can have. Let’s focus on how motherhood or fatherhood adds diversity. You might not think that being a parent adds diversity, but it does. Example: When you become a parent, your life purpose and goals undergo a series of changes and transformations, as does your thought process. In turn, your change is reflected in the work you produce, right down to the ideas and thoughts that go into project suggestions or your daily tasks and functions.
